Biography
I was born and raised in a small town south of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1974. Creativity has always been a part of my life and I became serious with drawing at the age of about 14, inspired mostly by friends I had at that time who were really skillful at drawing and doing alot of graffiti stuff. Due to sudden illness during a period of 5 years I stopped completely doing art of any kind, but returned later becoming even more productive than before. I have little formal training so most of it I learned by studying other artists, both the fine art masters but also by studying comics and comicbook art. The first few years of doing art I just drew whatever I felt like, only later it became an actual study for me. I have experience with oils, acrylics and aquarel but also with digital drawing and painting, which is what I mainly do now. Speaking of art music is very important to me regardless of genre. If it has nerve I don't care whether it's death metal or classical. When I draw or paint I almost always have music running in the background.
Comics
I have been involved in several different comic book projects mostly my own indie comics, but also in collaboration with freelancers. I love reading comics which for me is the most emerging form of entertainment there is. It can be Batman or it can some obscure webcomic for all I care, I simply love reading them and they are great material for studying other artists as well. I'm currently working on a comic book project where I'm doing the story, scripting, art and coloring myself which is a huge undertaking and quite a challenge. It will be a while before it is released, but as soon as it begins to take shape I'll release more info on the project.
Webdesign
I love designing and programming websites and since strict logic and syntax is my mortal enemy I find it quite challenging. Art of Raz is coded in W3C validated XHTML markup using TextMate (a superb text editor for OS X), which theoretically makes the website appear correctly in most major browsers such as Firefox, Internet Explorer and Opera. Apart from the HTML the website functionality is handled by a mix of Javascript, PHP and MySQL. I have coded alot of websites mostly by doing the markup myself and mixing it with 3rd party scripts. I just recently started learning Javascript and PHP and I still have a long way to go. But I like the challenge.
