If you have tried to get the Canon Lide 30 scanner working under OS X Leopard in Photoshop CS4 and failed, this short guide might help. I know there are unofficial drivers out there for this purpose but they cost money, and why pay extra for something you already own and payed for? Anywho, lets get to it.
1) Download the CanoScan toolbox here and install it where ever you like.
2) Next, download the drivers from the same page, and install it in the plug-ins folder of whereever you installed the CanoScan Toolbox.
3) Then launch the CanoScan Toolbox (it looks crappy but it works). Now you need to link it to Photoshop CS4 by clicking either the Scan-1 or 2 button. A new window opens. At the bottom you have to SET the link to CS4 in the dialog that open when you click the SET button. Just locate your CS4 installation and go to: CS4 -> Contents -> MacOS and select the file there.
4) Finally click the Settings button in the CanoScan Toolbox and make sure the ScanGear CS 7.0X driver is selected. Done.
You should now be able to scan and the scanned image should open automatically in CS4.
That's it. If you have any problems getting it to work, or found an error in this short guide just drop a line here.
